Garrett From 'The Bachelorette' Has A Problematic Social Media History And People Dug It Up
Huffington Post- Garrett Yrigoyen, one of 28 cast members on Becca Kufrin’s season of “The Bachelorette,” appears to have a history of liking social media posts that mock trans people, undocumented immigrants, left-wing women and one Parkland high school student. And as of Monday night, he seems to be a frontrunner on the show. During the season’s premiere episode, Kufrin, clad in radiant white, stood at the end of a gleaming, wet driveway and greeted her suitors. Toward the end of the night, she awarded the first impression rose to the man who most caught her fancy: Garrett, a 29-year-old square-jawed medical sales rep. “Since he pulled up in that minivan, I was smitten with him,” Kufrin told the camera. “I’m the luckiest guy in the world right now,” said Yrigoyen, grinning widely. The start of a televised fairy tale indeed.
So last night was the premiere of The Bachelorette. You might’ve missed it cause you were watching #sports but it happened. Becca is the Bachelorette this season after getting her heart ripped in half by Arie in front of the entire country. The first episode is always the best because you watch all the contestants arrive and we get to make fun of them. One guy showed up in a chicken suit. One guy showed up on an ox. Fake Trent showed up in a fucking hearse.
Enter Garrett. Garrett showed up in a minivan and every girl across the country melted. His opening line was, “I wanna be a great dad some day” which felt like running up the score. He’s handsome. He’s tall. He got the first impression rose from Becca. So he’s clearly the frontrunner after the first week. Oh and he also has a problematic social media history as you saw above. Not great. Liking posts that mocks trans people and immigrants. Liking posts about David Hogg being a criss actor. Just not great stuff.
This happened with Lee. Remember Lee from Rachel’s season? Maybe not but I bet you remember his face.
This is Lee
Lee has an unforgettable douche bag face. He got his social media history dug up last season and it was………less than great.
I’m now convinced ABC does this on purpose to create conversation. When it happened with Lee, that could’ve been an accident. Lee was the first guy on The Bachelor/The Bachelorette who I remember this happening to. But now it’s happening again with Garrett. The reason I think ABC is doing this on purpose is because they’re social media savvy. For instance, they put a Trent from Iowa on the show that wasn’t me. That’s not an accident. ABC knows what they’re doing in terms of social media. So they 100000% look into the social media histories of the contestants they cast. They had to know about Garrett. And why wouldn’t they cast guys like this? The whole Lee thing blew over pretty quickly but created A TON of conversation around the show. The same thing is happening with Garrett. Looks like ABC has decided to just take the bullets and keep it moving.
